takeout box bag - accessory design

Prompt: Create a challenging structured bag that could fit a phone and wallet comfortably.

I decided to create a Chinese American takeout box. Creating the appropriate dimensions for this pattern and deciding what kind of support should go into the structure of the bag were the biggest issues to solve. I hand painted the imagery on the moire fabric and included a credit card zipper compartment in the interior.

For the shoot I wanted to represent the gluttony of the Fashion Industry through visually obscene imagery that would allude to cultural appropriation. Throughout the shooting process I slowly destroy the bag by putting placing the bag on food and then completely filling it to the brim.

**Through research prior to the project proposal I found that the Chinese American Take-out box (and designer bag representation) is viewed as amusing to the Chinese consumer. More-so a product of Chinese American Culture and the Chinese American Restaurant.**
